How do I add an event to the calendar?
First, join Sutton Active. If you've already joined, sign in. Then go to the calendar page and click the number of the date when your event happens. Just fill out the form and your event will be added to the calendar straight away. You can edit or delete your event's details later if you want.
How do I add my group to the group directory?
Take a quick look through the All Groups listing to check you're not already there. If not, just contact us with your details and we'll get you set up. You can't add your group's details to the site directly yourself.
How do I add a place to use as a venue for my event or to put in the Places to Go listings?
Just sign in and use this form which you can find at the top of the places page when you're signed in.
How do I add my group's news to the news pages and home page?
You can't type your news directly into Sutton Active. We're considering adding this feature but it's not scheduled at present.
The news items come from RSS or Atom feeds from those groups' websites. If your group has a website that produces a suitable feed you can add it to your group's profile page using the "add news feed" button at the top of the page. You'll need to be an administrator or editor of that group to have permission to do this. Note that you have to enter the address of your site's feed, not your main website address. Contact us if you know your site has got a feed but can't work out how to get it into Sutton Active.
If your group doesn't have its own website that produces a feed, you might want to set up one using WordPress.com (best recommendation) or Blogger — both of which are free and very easy to use.
If you're a bit more ambitious and want to set up something on your own web hosting, we recommend installing WordPress. We're happy to give a little bit of help to get you started with this if you need it. Many web hosting companies offer a one-click installation process for WordPress using Fantastico, so look for that in the feature list if you're shopping for hosting. Dreamhost also has its own easy installer for WordPress.
